Apple has officially announced that its third-gen tablet will hit the shelves in the U.S. and nine other countries at 8 a.m. local time this Friday. Other countries to see the new iPad are Canada, Australia, U.K., Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The device will also go on sale in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
In addition to selling the new iPad in its retail stores, Apple will also offer the tablet at Best Buy, Target, Wallmart, Radio Shack and Sam’s Club on launch day. Customers will also be able to purchase 4G LTE-aware models at Verizon and AT&T retail outlets.
Officially unveiled a week ago, the third-generation device sports a double-resolution Retina Display and a new, faster dual-core A5X chipset with quad-core graphics processing. The tablet also features a 5Mpx iSight camera allowing users to record 1080p video.
Apple is also going to offer a 4G LTE version that can connect to high-speed data networks in America and Canada along with 3G networks across the globe.
The new iPad also offers a 4G LTE model capable of connecting to high-speed data networks in the U.S. and Canada, as well as HSPA+ and DC-HSPDA-based 3G networks around the world. Besides, last year’s iPad stays on sale in a capacity of 16GB and is reportedly priced at $399 for the Wi-Fi edition. To get a 3G-enabled version, users must pay $529.
Every new iPad buyer who will purchase a third-generation tablet at an Apple retail store will allegedly get free “Personal Setup” service that installs programs from the App Store, sets up e-mails and more. The company also provides its “Personal Pickup” service at U.S. retail locations. Customers taking advantage of it are able to shop and purchase from anywhere to pick up their device at any retail store later.
